July '26 Travel Mail - D.R. Congo
Memories of D.R. Congo is a very special collection for me — a love letter to the country where I was born and a place I haven’t returned to since I was 8 years old.
So much of what I remember lives in the little things: the familiar streets and landmarks, the foods and drinks, the brands I grew up with, and the bright Ankara wax fabrics. These watercolor paintings are my way of revisiting those memories and holding onto the pieces of home that have stayed with me all these years.
This newsletter includes my watercolor depictions of landscapes, landmarks, and local foods and activities — some pulled from memories, and some from stories I heard over the years.
Inside, you’ll find:
Did You Know… pieces of history and traditions
Fun Facts to help you blend in like a local
How Do You Say… words to know
Eat, See, Do — favorite things to taste, experience, and explore
A puzzle at the back for a playful finish!
Each page is designed like a keepsake — soft, story-driven, and with the back of each printed page left blank so that you can cut them up and reuse as journaling ephemera, or send with snail mail to a friend!
