A Little Look Around My Creative Space VLOG 35

✨️A little peek into the space where so many of my ideas begin. 🩵

I shared a little look around my studio/office over on YouTube — the turquoise seating corner, the things I’ve collected, and the place where I get to make and capture all the little memories you see here 🥰✨

Turns out I had a few hours Sunday afternoon to sketch in the studio after doing all the things! Just me, my custom pencils from @fionamariedesign (thanks, Fi!) and a few quiet hours to make something with my hands!

Love these moments, and trying to prioritize them more ✨

✨️Not every memory I collect is on paper. 🩵

My favorite memory of moving into this house was discovering the extra bedroom which I could turn into my art studio!🎨

I don't remember what I envisioned back then, but I have spent a lot of time in front of this window since, reading my Bible and journaling, gazing out at the trees, daydreaming, and painting while the natural light was prime.

Having a calm space to create in is as important to me as the creating itself. I can't really have the one without the other.

If you don't have your own right now, I hope some of mine comes through and gives you a bit of that calm! 🥰

I am sharing it back for anyone who struggles with this like me, and wanted to also say that it helped me remember that I started with teeny tiny watercolor paintings because I just wanted to paint and never had time. This made it less challenging so I will go back to that!🥰

✨️One thing I want to improve on is creating art consistently. This is definitely not my strong suit and I have been trying for years to come up with a schedule that works ask that mom life, art life and day job to coexist.

I haven't yet cracked the code but I know that in order to grow my art business, I need to share, share, share.

Any suggestions? Tips? Ideas? Prayers? 🤣

✨️ The thing about painting with watercolor is I can make it as light and airy as I want or as bold and vibrant as I want. All depends on my mood!!

No one really taught me this; I sort of learned from watching other artists do their thing with gouache, acrylic, watercolor, and oil paints and decided to try them all. 🖌

Ultimately, I feel in love with the feel of watercolor and it led to these relaxed nostalgic travel paintings, so stick around if you enjoy them too! ✈️🩵

🩵 Hi, I'm Sandra!!
I create nostalgic watercolor scenes and moments that resonate with people's emotions.

📖 I love reading fictional crime novels and my current favorite is the In Death series by JD Robb (aka Nora Roberts). I read them in a loop all the time!

💬 Something else I love (aside from my family, ofc) is to send very long voice notes to friends near and far. It makes me feel like we're spending the day together!

🏗 I work at an architecture and engineering firm to supplement our family's income but I wasn't trained in any of it. I sort of fell into it and like the place and the people, but I hope to one day only work for myself!

💌 I started a travel mail club to encourage people to slow down and enjoy the simpler things again. Also so you'd get something fun in the mail instead of just bills and junk... I'm currently on month 6 and working to keep growing it!
